By Professor

I just found out that NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY has a law school and I didnt really know it even had a program till i saw it on the website… I am really interested in going there but I am hesitant because i am afraid it might be a waste of money because its not well-known
any comments/suggestions?
any reccomendations for a better school that i could get into that has the same acceptance criteria as northeastern??

I hate to state something obvious, but you need to use a law school finder. The best one I know is located here: http://lawschoolfinder.pashalaw.com/
The law school finder will let you search by region (or state), admission criteria and about 20 other ways to reduce your search. It only searches ABA approved law schools; however, that’s all that you’d probably want to look into anyway. Good luck.

Both BU and BC have decent law schools. Northeastern is ranked in the top rank, but lower than the others I mentioned by quite a bit. Suffolk is ranked fairly high in Tier 3.

Boston University has a very good law school. I was taking a tour of the campus once and their law school building was very nice. Also all the professors that talked had excellent credentials. US News’ 2008 rankings has BU as the 20th best law school. While I do not know from personal experience Boston College is ranked #28 in the 2008 US News rankings. Northeastern has a fine program, however it is nowhere near BU or BC. US News ranks it at 85. Suffolk has an alright program but if you got accepted into any of those 3 schools there would be no reason to go to Suffolk. Suffolk is more like a 3rd tier law school, although it probably is at the top of the 3rd tier. I know you said Boston but in New York City, NYU and Columbia both have excellent programs though they may be out of your league (US News ranks them 4th and 5th respectively). Also in NYC is the Brooklyn School of Law (60th) and St. John’s (70th). In D.C. Georgetown is #14, George Washington is 22 and American is #47. Rutgers in Camden is at 70, as is Seton Hall (NJ). Finally in Philadelphia Villanova and Temple are both ranked 60th.
